Ladoix AOC
Ladoix AOC is a designated wine appellation located within the Burgundy region of France. Ladoix AOC produces red Pinot Noir and white Chardonnay where the Côte de Nuits turns into the Côte de Beaune around the Corton hill.
Overview
Vineyards at Ladoix-Serrigny spread across lower slopes and the northeastern flank of the Corton hill. Limestone, marl, and clay support fresh, structured reds and lively, mineral whites, with exposure and elevation creating marked differences across village and Premier Cru sites.
History
The village’s long winegrowing tradition was formally protected through the Ladoix AOC in 1937.
Geography
The appellation occupies east- and southeast-facing slopes and piedmont around Ladoix-Serrigny at the northern entrance to the Côte de Beaune.
Climate
Continental weather meets varied Corton-hill exposures; cooler upper sites and warmer lower slopes broaden the range of ripening conditions.
Soils
Jurassic limestone and marl mix with clay, scree, and deeper alluvial material toward the foot of the slope.
Wine styles
Red Pinot Noir and white Chardonnay are produced, ranging from supple village wines to more concentrated Premier Cru expressions.
Notable features
Ladoix shares the Corton hill with Aloxe-Corton and Pernand-Vergelesses and forms the geographic hinge between Burgundy’s two famous côtes.
