La Tâche AOC
La Tâche AOC is a designated wine appellation located within the Burgundy region of France. La Tâche Grand Cru is a monopole in Vosne-Romanée producing powerful, perfumed, and exceptionally long-lived red Pinot Noir.
Overview
The elongated vineyard crosses the Vosne-Romanée slope below La Grande Rue, combining shallow upper limestone soils with deeper rendzina lower down. This vertical range gives Pinot Noir layered red and dark fruit, spice, floral perfume, dense texture, and commanding longevity.
History
The historic La Tâche and Les Gaudichots parcels were united under single ownership before the appellation received Grand Cru protection in 1936.
Geography
The monopole descends an east- to southeast-facing slope in Vosne-Romanée from the upper vineyard band toward the village.
Climate
Continental seasons, morning sun, and changing elevation create varied ripening conditions within one enclosed holding.
Soils
Brown limestone soils are shallow and stony high on the slope, becoming deeper rendzina with greater clay lower down over Premeaux limestone.
Wine styles
Red Pinot Noir exclusively, characteristically intense, perfumed, structured, and capable of decades of development.
Notable features
Its monopole ownership and long vertical sweep make La Tâche unusually complete as a single-estate expression of the Vosne slope.
