Fixin AOC
Fixin AOC is a designated wine appellation located within the Burgundy region of France. Fixin AOC produces predominantly structured Pinot Noir from limestone and marl slopes near the northern end of the Côte de Nuits.
Overview
Fixin and part of Brochon form a compact vineyard landscape between Marsannay and Gevrey-Chambertin. East-facing slopes favor Pinot Noir wines with dark fruit, earth, and firm tannin; a small amount of Chardonnay gives focused white wine.
History
The village’s wine identity developed alongside its monastic and agricultural history and is protected at village and Premier Cru levels.
Geography
Vineyards rise above Fixin and extend into Brochon, from lower piedmont sites to steeper east- and southeast-facing slopes.
Climate
A continental climate and relatively northerly position favor measured ripening; slope exposure helps capture morning sun.
Soils
Limestone and marl predominate, with brown calcareous soils, scree, and deeper clay toward the foot of the slope.
Wine styles
Red Pinot Noir dominates and is often firm and ageworthy; limited white Chardonnay is also permitted.
