Corton AOC is a designated wine appellation located within the Burgundy region of France. Corton Grand Cru crowns the Corton hill with predominantly red Pinot Noir and rare white Chardonnay.
Overview
The freestanding Corton hill offers exposures from southeast to southwest across Aloxe-Corton, Ladoix-Serrigny, and Pernand-Vergelesses. Varied marl, limestone, and clay produce powerful, ageworthy reds and scarce complex whites.
History
Centuries of cultivation shaped its many climats before Grand Cru AOC recognition in 1937.
