Bouzeron AOC is a designated wine appellation located within the Burgundy region of France. Bouzeron AOC is Burgundy’s only village appellation devoted exclusively to Aligoté.
Overview
Sunny slopes around Bouzeron preserve Aligoté’s acidity while limestone and marl add floral, citrus, and mineral character with more body than typical regional examples.
History
Long known for superior Aligoté, Bouzeron gained its own village AOC in 1998.
Geography
Vineyards occupy slopes in Bouzeron and Chassey-le-Camp in the northern Côte Chalonnaise.
Climate
Continental conditions and favorable hillside exposure support full yet fresh ripening.
Soils
White marl and limestone-derived soils are shallow, stony, and well drained.
Wine styles
Dry white Aligoté exclusively, fresh, floral, citrus-driven, and mineral.
Notable features
It is the only village-level AOC in France centered solely on Aligoté.
