Overview

The small commune lies between Chambolle-Musigny and Vosne-Romanée. Outside the separate Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, village and Premier Cru parcels cross limestone, marl, and lower-slope alluvium, yielding structured reds and scarce, rounded whites.

Vineyards extend from the foot of the Côte toward the mid-slope around the village and the walled Clos de Vougeot.

Limestone and marl dominate higher sites, with deeper clay and alluvial material toward the lower ground.

Red Pinot Noir predominates; limited white Chardonnay is also produced under the village appellation.
