Savigny-lès-Beaune AOC produces generous red Pinot Noir and smaller amounts of fresh white wine in valleys northwest of Beaune.
Overview
The appellation spreads across two main vineyard sectors divided by the Rhoin valley. Contrasting slope aspects and limestone-clay soils yield cherry- and violet-scented Pinot Noir with rounded structure, plus lively Chardonnay-based whites with citrus, floral, and occasional mineral notes.
Geography & Climate
Vineyards occupy slopes on both sides of the Rhoin valley between the Corton hill and Beaune, creating varied orientations and elevations.
Soils
Limestone and marl-derived soils vary in clay, gravel, iron, and depth across the two hillside groups.
Wine Styles
Red Pinot Noir dominates; white wines are based on Chardonnay with Pinot Blanc also permitted.
