Overview
Set beneath dramatic cliffs at the head of a valley west of Meursault, Saint-Romain’s vineyards sit at relatively high elevations. Cool airflow and rocky limestone-marl soils favor taut whites with citrus and mineral character and fragrant, light-footed reds.
Geography & Climate
The vineyards occupy elevated slopes and a rocky amphitheater around Saint-Romain, well above the main Côte.
Soils
Jurassic limestone, marl, and rocky scree create shallow, well-drained calcareous soils.
Wine Styles
White Chardonnay is prominent and typically crisp and mineral; red Pinot Noir is fragrant, fresh, and lightly structured.
