Nuits-Saint-Georges AOC
Nuits-Saint-Georges AOC produces mainly structured, ageworthy Pinot Noir across distinct northern and southern sectors of the Côte de Nuits.
Overview
Vineyards around Nuits-Saint-Georges and Premeaux-Prissey stretch on both sides of the Meuzin valley. Northern sites often show aromatic finesse, while many southern sites yield deeper, firmer reds; rare white wines add a small counterpoint to the appellation’s Pinot Noir identity.
Geography & Climate
Vineyards occupy east- and southeast-facing slopes north and south of the town, divided by the Meuzin valley and extending into Premeaux-Prissey.
Soils
Jurassic limestone and marl vary across faults and slope positions, with stony calcareous soils and greater clay in some southern sites.
Wine Styles
Red Pinot Noir dominates, generally structured and ageworthy; rare whites may use Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc.
