Overview
Set between Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny, Morey-Saint-Denis compresses village, Premier Cru, and Grand Cru vineyards into a short stretch of slope. Its red wines often balance dark fruit and structure with floral detail and fine texture; rare white wine is also allowed.
Geography & Climate
The commune occupies a compact section of the Côte’s east-facing escarpment, with grands crus high on the mid-slope and village sites above and below.
Soils
Jurassic limestone and marl form thin, stony slope soils, becoming deeper and more clay-rich toward the plain.
Wine Styles
Pinot Noir defines the appellation’s red wines; a very small quantity of white wine may be produced from permitted white varieties.
